It will be a time when these nations will find themselves at war with God {qluetip title=[Ezekiel 38:18]}And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.{/qluetip}. "And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face."

From Bible history we know of the mechanisms available to ensure that the Lord's will is done. Sodom & Gomorrah were consumed in fire and brimstone which we assume to be a volcanic eruption. Jericho's walls were brought down by earthquake. And confusion among the Moabite and Ammonite soldiers caused them to fight each other {qluetip title=[2 Chronicles 20:23]}For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.{/qluetip}. The disastrous attempt at crossing the Red Sea by Egyptian charioteers in pursuit of the Children of Israel {qluetip width=[500] title=[Exodus 14:24-28]}And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.{/qluetip} was perhaps influenced by a change of wind releasing pent up waters in the manner of a cyclone storm surge. Hailstones had already been used against Pharaoh and later they would be used to destroy much of the Amorite army, {qluetip width=[500] title=[Joshua 10:11-14]}And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.{/qluetip}.

Certainly there have many examples over the millennia where weather events have dramatically influenced human conflict no doubt with divine influence. The escape of British troops from the Dunkirk beaches was assisted by remarkably calm seas while the Luftwaffe was frustrated by poor visibility. The Spanish Armada was likewise destroyed by severe weather conditions. When it has suited the Lord's purpose mankind has been destroyed in large numbers in a matter of hours. We have the example of the firstborn in Egypt and also the Assyrian Army in {qluetip title=[2 Kings 19:35]}And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.{/qluetip} where 185,000 soldiers died overnight.

These cases both involved direct rebellion or insult against the Lord. We can look at the present times of cyclone, floods, tsunamis, disease, locusts, and earthquakes and wonder whether God's hand is at work today. When this has suited the Lord's purpose mankind has been destroyed in large numbers in a matter of hours. We have the example of the firstborn in Egypt and also the Assyrian Army in 2 Kings 19:35 where 185,000 soldiers died overnight. We have abundant evidence of God's power but we have the confidence of knowing that Armageddon is an event that will ultimately will bring peace between the nations and the rule of the Lord Jesus Christ from Jerusalem.
